Five for Fraturday - Woo-hoo!

So I know it should be Five for Friday, but I was worn out yesterday. Pooped.

So it's now going to be Five for Fraturday.

Go link up with Doodle Bugs and join the party!

Last Sunday morning, I persuaded some friends to wake up BEFORE the crack of dawn and head out to the Plano Balloon Festival. The balloons were being launched at 7:00am, so we left at 5:00am. Wow, is that early. When we got there, the sun wasn't up yet and dew was on the grass.

It was SO worth it.

It was just amazing.

We already have plans to go again next year!

If you're following my blog, then you know that I GOT A JOB!!!! And it's the job that I wanted!!

I'll be teaching 3rd grade self-contained, and that means I need to set up my classroom. From scratch.

So off to Mardel to buy some new borders. WHY do they keep coming out with new cute borders every year? It just makes it that much harder to choose!

I was able to go up to my school yesterday (Friday) and see my classroom and meet my team. I wanted to make a good impression, especially since I was coming in after school started and after they had already established a good report with each other.

I wanted to bring them a little gift and found something like this on Pinterest and adapted it to make it my own. By the way, what in the world did we ever do without Pinterest? (Did you know that I'm on Pinterest? Look for "Southern Fried Teachin" and you'll find ME!)

My team LOVED them! I have 4 other members on my team (and yes, I found out beforehand that they were all women). They loved them so much that other teams heard about my gift. Success!
Here is my new classroom! As you can see, it's a little bare. I have no window (BOO), but the room itself is big, and there is tons of storage. In fact, I downsized so much in the past couple of years that I have many empty cabinets. Can you imagine? I've NEVER had that before! Oh, and I also have a sink. Woo-hoo!

And this was my absolute favorite part about my classroom...

Everyone made me feel so welcome. I LOVE my school!
My dog, Missy, aka "Stinker" got a new collar. Being just like her mama, she loves to have matching accessories.

Last but not least, here's a funny for ya that I found at a little store. It cracked me up!

How has your week gone?

Also, if any of you are elementary teachers, I would LOVE to hear your tips, suggestions, must haves, etc! It's been 4 years since I've taught all subjects in elementary, and I know there are some new great things out there. Any books you would recommend? Thanks bloggy friends!

Awesome news to share!

I haven't posted much recently. I'll admit that I've been pretty impatient and discouraged in this whole job process lately. I know God had a plan, but man, was it tough waiting it out.

However, now I have some news to share.

I will be teaching 3rd grade self-contained in a wonderful district. The numbers in the 3rd grade were too large, so they got to hire a new teacher. And that's me!

I actually got two job offers, and I was able to choose the best one for me.

I go into tomorrow to sign my contract.

Then I will have to get my classroom all set up. And plan. And etc, etc, etc. AGH!

Five 4 Friday

When you don't have a job, your days run together. I know today is Friday only because my coming home party is tomorrow on Saturday.

I'm linking up with Doodle Bugs for the weekly Five 4 Friday! I just love to see how everyone's week is going. Sadly, I don't have much to share, but I still wanted to be a part of it.

Off we go!

Boy, did I miss these babies. There's something about dogs....they make a house a home.

Missy, my little terrier chihuahua diva, LOVES her big brother, Kobe. She loves to curl up next to him. I, on the other hand, have to practically beg her to cuddle with me. I see where her love and adoration lies...

So let me tell you what's new on the job front.

I thought that God had already worked on my patience in Korea. Guess I still needed work. He is having me be VERY patient in finding a job. Didn't think it would be this difficult. Makes me wonder if I filled in my applications correctly.

I know God has a plan. I know God has a plan. I know God has a plan.

I'm just going to keep telling myself that over and over again.

I've really been missing Korea since I've gotten home. A LOT more than I thought I would have.

I miss my friends. I miss being around people who understood me and understood that life was just one big adventure. I miss people who knew what it was like to pack up your life and move halfway across the world. I miss people who loved finding and discovering new things. I miss my neighborhood in Korea. I miss my apartment. I miss my little adventures in my favorite area.

I just miss Korea. I really do.

And my co-teacher from Korea says that all my students ask about me and wonders when I'll be coming back to school. My heart just melted...

I am so excited because I have reached 200 followers on TpT! I'm so excited I just can't hide it!

To celebrate, I am throwing a 20% sale from now through Sunday. If you have anything from my store on your Wish List, you might want to check out my sale!

I am so grateful that I found TpT. I just LOVE creating games and activities and then sharing them with other teachers. And I'm even more grateful that other teachers actually like what I create!

I had been working for a long time on my science SCOOT games. I had wanted to combine them into a bundle to save you money. It was way too big for one big bundle, so I combined them into 4 different bundles.

Life Science - 7 SCOOT games

Physical Science - 7 SCOOT games

Earth Science - 8 SCOOT games

Science Investigation and Skills - 8 SCOOT games

How was your week?

Hopefully by the next Five For Friday, I can say that I have a job!!!!

September Currently

This time last year I had just started teaching in Korea. I miss my students. I will admit that I don't necessarily miss my co-teacher though.

I'm linking up with Farley for the monthly Currently, so mosey on over there and see what other teachers are up to these days.

Listening: I remember the first season of The Real Housewives of Orange County. I watched it for years, and then stopped. I have recently begun watching it again. It's seriously a train wreck, and I can't stop watching. There are a few ladies that need a good smack upside the head because they drive me absolute batty. Please tell me I'm not the only one who can't stop watching this train wreck.

Loving: I LOVE that I can eat any kind of food that I want! If I want Mexican, I eat it. If I want bagels, I eat them. If I want Southern home cookin', I eat it. I do not miss Korean food. Especially the eyeballs and fish with bones and scales and eyes. Not at all.

Thinking: I will admit it. I miss Korea. This reverse culture shock has been harder than I thought it would be. I miss being around other expats, people who completely understood what I was feeling. I feel a little lost and alone here at home, even though I am surrounded by friends and family. I've heard it's completely normal and will get better.

Wanting: I am in the process of looking for a teaching job. It's not easy to come back home AFTER school starts and look for a job. But I know that God has a plan and knows what he's doing. He just hasn't let me in on it yet.

Needing: see above

3 Trips: I have traveled to more than 40 countries (I've lost count....I need to recount), but there are places I would still love to go. There will always be more places I want to visit. I would love to go to India. The culture, the colors, the Taj Mahal. And I still have not been to Vegas. Crazy, I know. Another place I would love to go to is Brazil. Everything I have seen and heard about Brazil intrigues me and makes me want to go there.

Go see what other teachers are up to this month!
